Brunch with the Bestie: Farmer’s Market Finds…

This weekend, the hubby and I decided it was time to unplug a little. We just wanted good food… Good friends & family.. And to be home. So we called up some friends and decided to ransack the local farmers market for some beauty buys and some amazing ideas on meals…What better time to do that than National Farmer’s Market Week! We found a ton of great deals..scored lots of freebies..and made so much food already and it’s only Saturday evening, as I write this! And since I hadn’t seen my bestie in a few weeks.. We started with a Saturday brunch with her..

On the menu today, we have an amazing frittata, baked Brie, mimosas & a “mom”osa for me…& an easy oatmeal face mask…

Ingredients: bacon, red & green peppers, 6 eggs, chard (or spinach), shallot (or onion of preference), garlic queso fresco(or whatever cheese you like!), 1 tomato

This is so simple to make.. Get the bacon started..and roast the peppers in the oven on a baking sheet for a 5-10 at about 350..

While your waiting on the bacon and peppers.. Cut up the remaining veggies & cheese, scramble the eggs..once the bacon and peppers are done.. Chop those as well..

Sauté the shallot and chard in the bacon grease for some extra pizazz..or just simply sauté..

Then take a pie pan or casserole dish and pour the egg mixture over the veggies and place in over at 350 degrees for about 45 min.

Now you use whatever you want in the frittata,of coarse..one of the vendors recommended the chard over the spinach and same goes for the shallot onion…and we loved it. We went fancy with the local bacon and Amish garlic cheese but again.. Whatever goes in these simple dishes!

Up next..

Ingredients: Brie cheese, cinnamon bread & apples

Sprinkle Brie, with the rind on, with maple syrup and cinnamon…

Place in the oven.. Along with the bread, to toast it..at 350 degrees on large baking for 10 min.. Cut up the apples while it bakes

And to top it off…

Ingredients: Orange juice, champagne & sparkling apple cider

Simply mix the amount of liquids to your preference! 😉 The apple cider is for mommies and babies, of coarse.. (I made this small bouquet for $3.50 at the market as well)

Sit back and relax with your amazing meal & cocktail and take in the summer time.

We took advantage of being wild in the backyard with the boys.. Clothing was optional, as you can see.. For the kids!

But let’s not forget those freebies…because it was National Farmer’s Market Week, they had a ton of free samples, music, & food.. I scored gas and teething relief for babies (thanks for noticing I had kids, vendor friend!). Some essential oils, vitamins, chocolate and an amazing body scrub..more of what I made of that later…

But.. I did take a few drops lavender oil I received..Mixed with 1 tablespoon oatmeal & water..applied to face and let dry for 5 min..then scrub away with warm cloth💋
