I have even gotten compliments on my skin this summer ever since I have added this to my skincare regime. Its divine!! Retinol does wonders to reduce appearance of aging and  discoloration. Highly recommend using. This is by far my favorite beauty product.

  • Freeman Brightening Overnight Mask – Hibicus + Vitamin C… another summer staple! This will instantly brighten your skin. I use this a few times a week. Feeling tight after a little too much sun? This has your back. You will be basking in your own glow come Morning time. Another simple money saver here too! You can find this in Ulta or even Target etc..

Mermaid Water: The Only Daily-Detox Green Drink You Will Need

 

That’s right! The only green drink you’ll need…except your margarita!

I am a Huge fan of drinking my greens. I always crave a good detox friendly beverage. These are the solution to refuel after workouts or keep in some extra nutrients.

This does wonders to flush out toxins from your system and it’ll leave your hair and skin glowing too. Hydration and nutrients play a huge part on the inside and out.

I add powders into mostly all my drinks. Collagen powder in coffee, greens powder in my water and protein in my smoothies. There are so many to choose from and they are a GREAT way to get the nutrients. I have been playing around with detox waters for years now and this is my favorite. There are so many great options out there to choose from too and I’ll list some below! I actually found this powder on sale at Walmart one day and really enjoyed it too.

Detoxing Green Drink

Mermaid Water

Vitamin Water Daily Greens Detox Drink

Ingredients:

One scoop organic greens mixture of any kind

Fresh Mint

Fresh Lemon

Frozen blueberries (to use as ice) and extra ice if desired

Fresh Blackberries

Manuka Honey

8 oz Filtered Water

Pour the water into desired glass…mix scoop of greens in until blended well. Mix in honey next. Then squeeze in a few lemon wedges and top of with the rest of the berries and mint. Add extra ice if needed.

Meal Prep: Healthy Items For The Whole Family

As a part of my Motherhood Monday feature, I am sharing my favorite way to save some time…meal prep!! In our house, meal prep is a major saver! It saves money, time & sanity. So I praise the power of meal prep, as you all know. The last few weeks I have prepped a ton of chilli, soups and warm roast sandwiches since we were all sick. Now I am in need of something a little lighter, and since the weather is warmer this week again, fresh fruits and veggies sounded wonderful.

The possibilities are endless with what we picked this week, which is why I had to share.

From yummy Chicken Caesar Wraps to Burritos…we’ve got ya covered Boo! And the kiddos have some healthy options too!

Breakfast/Snack: Mini Pancake Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 1 batch natural/organic pancake mix or your favorite homemade recipe
  • Fresh fruits
  • Local or 100% natural maple syrup

1. Mix together your pancake ingredients and spoon 1 tablespoon of batter into greased mini muffin pan slots.

2. Add fresh berries or fruit of choice to each muffin mix.

3. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes & let cool for 10 minutes.

You can also make bigger pancake muffins using 2 tbsp for each muffin. Top with fresh cream, syrup or whatever you desire! The kids love these. You will too.

Lunch: Grilled Chicken Burrito Bowls

Ingredients:

  • Meal Prepped Chicken, Fully Cooked (use natural oil, herbs to bake/grill chicken)
  • Black Beans
  • Corn
  • Tomatoes
  • Cooked Brown Rice
  • Cilantro

Layer all the ingredients in a bowl and use desired portion for each meal. You can top with a creamy, Avocado dressing or even add a little queso, sour cream or salsa and enjoy as burrito bowl. Or another option is to make actual burritos. The kids love to keep their bowls simple and they add on taco sauce, sour cream & cheese.

Dinner: Grilled Chicken Salads/Wraps

Ingredients:

  • Nutrient Rich Greens ( kale, spinach, etc.)
  • Cauliflower Crumbles
  • Baked/Grilled Chicken

Combine ingredients in a bowl for healthy salads ready to be topped with endless amounts of veggies or keep it plain for delicious Caesar wraps. Use desired amount for each portion. For the kids, I might toss this on the stove in a little oil & you can too for a warm stir fry option!

Now remember bake your chicken in natural flavors like Himalayan pink sea salt, pepper, olive oil & fresh garlic and herbs. Keep your ingredients and dressings very simple and natural as well.

It doesn’t have to be organic to be good but it doesn’t need to have long list of ingredients or high fructose corn syrup! I’ll say this every time!

Places like Trader Joe’s, Aldis, Kroger & more have their own inexpensive natural and organic brands of products now.

Make sure to have lots of nuts, fruits, veggies & smoothies to go along with your meals!

August Instagram Round Up…

Oh August…this really is the last rattle of Summer for me. Tomorrow, I will officially be decorating for Fall and eventually Halloween. So let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember this last sweet, sweet month for SummerTime fun!

3 Easy Avocado Treats.. Puddings, Yogurts and Milkshakes Oh My!

I love healthy snacks. I can be so busy that I need to reach for something quick. And it is so easy to buy all prepackaged sometimes but I know that is not the best thing for me in the long run.

So I am always playing around in my kitchen during my free time, trying to create tasty options I can make ahead for later or make quick. And with a bunch of avocados lying around that were super ripe, I had to come up with ideas quick! I hate to waste….

Only a few ingredients each and has loads antioxidants & healthy fats.

First up…

1. Avocado Yogurt

  • 1/2-1 avocado
  • 1 Cup Greek or Coconut yogurt
  • 1/3 Cup local honey

Blend ingredients and enjoy!! Now the size of the avocado can determine how much you use. If smaller use whole and if larger use about half. We share this and love to add fresh berries and granola to it!

2. Chocolate Avocado Pudding

  • 1 avocado
  • 1/4 Cup Cacao or Cocoa powder
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 tbsp honey

This is one of my favorite snacks! And for the kids too. Blend the ingredients till creamy consistency. You can play around and add some vanilla or more honey..top with nuts…Whatever you fancy!

3. Matcha Avocado Milkshake

  • 1 avocado
  • 2 tsp Matcha Powder
  • 1-2 cups Almond Milk
  • 1 tbsp honey

Blend all ingredients till smooth. This cures my sweet cravings in no time. It’s delicious and simple. Plus it’s a way to get in nutrients instead of empty calories. Even add in some banana or coconut and freeze for a little “nice cream” treat.

One of my favorite things I have come to love is avocados. It’s filling and packs a ton of vitamins. It is great for your skin, hair and your overall well being!! So try one of these out if you need a snack pick me up from time to time and play around with what tastes good to you!!

30 Minute Workout Plan

30 minutes of cardio, 5x a week…

Seems easy right?!! The best part about this is.. you don’t have to join a gym or feel like there is no time left in a day for you. 30 minutes a day..that’s it!!

We got this!!!

I have felt so much better since adding cardio back into my lifestyle. It can be hard to get into though. I really had to ease back into this. Trust me, the first few times suuuck if you have been slacking in the cardio department. I felt dizzy and sick actually. But that didn’t stop me! Every time I did more, I felt better & it got easier and easier.

I have my lazy week like anyone else and am not too hard on myself at all. But since I added this mantra into my lifestyle, I have been doing so well and felt empowered.

If I can’t workout vigorously, I know that 30 minutes of cardio a day will lessen my chance of heart disease, stroke, heart attack and overall improve my health.

Cardio uses the heart to pump blood & oxygen around the body. So you’ll be feeling a little euphoric when it’s done! Who doesn’t want to get that natural feel good feeling?! You will be glowing and your mood will improve. If I’m having a bad day or grumpy I love to take it out on cardio!!! Trust me…& try it!
Soon, you’ll be able to go for longer periods if you like too.

Here are my favorite ways to incorporate cardio into our days....

  • Swimming. It’s Summer, so take advantage and swim as much as your heart desires!
  • Power Walk. One of my favorites…if I am just not feeling up to a workout. I can push myself to walk anytime. Just be sure to pick up the pace and get to it anywhere!
  • Follow along with you favorite YouTube cardio videos.
  • Bike rides. Scenic & fun!
  • Dancing. I will start off in my home doing a few cardio bursting exercises and then end it with some dancing with kids! They love it and we bond while getting exercise.
  • Running. This may be one some people need to work up to. I am no fan of running honestly. But it’s amazing for you!
  • Trampoline. Really. If you have kids and are trying to find a fun way to start working out. This would be it!
  • Pick a few cardio moves, do a minute of each and create a cycle to repeat with a few periods of rest and time for a drink!
