We all should know by now that our skin is our biggest organ. I have tried so, so many products over the last few years to find you all the best items. Some are good..some are bad…some are great!! I’m here to tell you about the products I do not go without now. They are classics and hard to beat.

It’s hard to switch to a completely natural lifestyle. It’s taken me years to learn and I am still learning. And sometimes, it’s impossible to avoid chemicals it feels. BUT… we can try to avoid them. At least to even just bring peace of mind.

I know what you’re thinking…how could Toothpaste be bad? Well it is. While I usually reach for Tom’s brand myself, I have learned recently that may not even be enough. I am a Huge fan of drinking my greens. I always crave a good detox friendly beverage. These are the solution to refuel after workouts or keep in some extra nutrients.

Guys!! I’ve missed writing so badly. I took a little break over the holidays to just relax. But I still couldn’t turn off the idea-train. Honestly, it was perfect though. I was able to reevaluate where I wanted to take things and decide what was for me and what wasn’t.

The other amazing thing I was able to do was focus on my devotionals and wonderful new books to get me in the right space for this season of my life. So I just had to share them with you all!!! These all are such amazing books to get the whole family involved and even friends.

I am going to be doing some online study groups for some of these, as well. So whether you are around me locally or only able join online, I want us all to be able to connect and focus on what we truly want out of this God Given life. I want a community where we are all the leaders and guiding each other.

It’s very important for people to have fun and connect. I have always loved family life and motherhood. But I got to a place where I had no clue where I wanted to go next. It was a little alarming. All of the sudden it was time to search for new homes, start thinking about my children starting school, the Big 3-0 came and went… My quiet life at home with the kids was suddenly changing and so was I. I wasn’t giving myself anytime I needed to process anything either. And that’s when the idea hit me of what I truly wanted to do..to connect and help any woman who needs that extra support or inspiration. And to get organized spiritually again!

That ultimately has always been my goal here but I wasn’t fully diving into it the way I wanted. Or I was having so many ideas of things I could do that I couldn’t even pick a lane to focus on! So first and foremost, I think it’s important to stay humble and put our Faith first. When we have that main focus, everything else will fall where it needs to.

It covers what it is like to be a Proverbs 31 woman…To live serving your family and God. Some of it can be a hard pill to swallow but some of it really does change the way we view ourselves as a woman/mother/wife. It helped me be more grateful of my role as a busy woman.

Natural Scents For The Home

I love having candles. But with my children’s allergies and such, I am not able to have too many artificial scents throughout the home. It always seems to interrupt their air quality and makes their coughs worse. So I keep candles to a minimum now or just use the best candle options mostly.

Having children was a quick way to learn that fragrance was a bad thing. Their skin would break out, they sneeze and wheeze.

We keep things pretty natural here. I actually prefer the smell of natural soaps and scents so much more now. Nothing better than a freshly bathed babe who smells like honey and lime over chemicals.

But I soon realized soaps weren’t the only problems for fragrance and added chemicals.

My beloved candles and plug ins had to go. But thankfully I have found my favorite way to freshen up the home…

If you don’t have a cool air humidifier that you can drop a few essential oils into…just burn a few things on the stove!

Here’s my favorite scent right now. It is so simple to make and your house will be smelling like a fresh baked pie in no time…and there are a few different ways to achieve it too..

Ingredients for stove stop scent:

  • Orange peels
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground clove
  • Ground nutmeg
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice

Bring a small pot of water to a boil and add the orange peels. ( I store my children’s fruit peels in a mason jar throughout the day for this) Once the orange peels have had a few moments to soften up, add all the spices except pumpkin pie. I just sprinkle in a little of each. About 1-2 tsps.

Next, lower heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally.

I like to add a few dashes of pumpkin spice towards the end for an extra burst of scents. Pumpkin Pie Spice is just a mix of these spices and more so it’s nice to add a bit before I take it off the stove.

Add a dash of frankincense or thrive oil too for a stronger scent.

Another way to achieve this smell is simply through essential oils in boiling water or an air humidifier.

Just boil water and add a few drops of orange oil and another oil like frankincense or thrive (which is a blend of a few different oils and smells delightful)

Just watch out for some oils like Eucalyptus when it comes to young children. I use very little Thrive oil when boiling or putting in an air humidifier since it contains Eucalyptus.

I promise you this works wonders though. I usually do this when I’m done cooking dinner. I’ll throw all this on a pot on the back-burner and by the time we are almost done eating you can smell the divine scents filling up your home. Just in time to snuggle up with some Cocoa 😉 Enjoy Loves!

Meal Prep: Healthy Items For The Whole Family

As a part of my Motherhood Monday feature, I am sharing my favorite way to save some time…meal prep!! In our house, meal prep is a major saver! It saves money, time & sanity. So I praise the power of meal prep, as you all know. The last few weeks I have prepped a ton of chilli, soups and warm roast sandwiches since we were all sick. Now I am in need of something a little lighter, and since the weather is warmer this week again, fresh fruits and veggies sounded wonderful.

The possibilities are endless with what we picked this week, which is why I had to share.

From yummy Chicken Caesar Wraps to Burritos…we’ve got ya covered Boo! And the kiddos have some healthy options too!

Breakfast/Snack: Mini Pancake Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 1 batch natural/organic pancake mix or your favorite homemade recipe
  • Fresh fruits
  • Local or 100% natural maple syrup

1. Mix together your pancake ingredients and spoon 1 tablespoon of batter into greased mini muffin pan slots.

2. Add fresh berries or fruit of choice to each muffin mix.

3. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes & let cool for 10 minutes.

You can also make bigger pancake muffins using 2 tbsp for each muffin. Top with fresh cream, syrup or whatever you desire! The kids love these. You will too.

Lunch: Grilled Chicken Burrito Bowls

Ingredients:

  • Meal Prepped Chicken, Fully Cooked (use natural oil, herbs to bake/grill chicken)
  • Black Beans
  • Corn
  • Tomatoes
  • Cooked Brown Rice
  • Cilantro

Layer all the ingredients in a bowl and use desired portion for each meal. You can top with a creamy, Avocado dressing or even add a little queso, sour cream or salsa and enjoy as burrito bowl. Or another option is to make actual burritos. The kids love to keep their bowls simple and they add on taco sauce, sour cream & cheese.

Dinner: Grilled Chicken Salads/Wraps

Ingredients:

  • Nutrient Rich Greens ( kale, spinach, etc.)
  • Cauliflower Crumbles
  • Baked/Grilled Chicken

Combine ingredients in a bowl for healthy salads ready to be topped with endless amounts of veggies or keep it plain for delicious Caesar wraps. Use desired amount for each portion. For the kids, I might toss this on the stove in a little oil & you can too for a warm stir fry option!

Now remember bake your chicken in natural flavors like Himalayan pink sea salt, pepper, olive oil & fresh garlic and herbs. Keep your ingredients and dressings very simple and natural as well.

It doesn’t have to be organic to be good but it doesn’t need to have long list of ingredients or high fructose corn syrup! I’ll say this every time!

Places like Trader Joe’s, Aldis, Kroger & more have their own inexpensive natural and organic brands of products now.

Make sure to have lots of nuts, fruits, veggies & smoothies to go along with your meals!

3 Easy Avocado Treats.. Puddings, Yogurts and Milkshakes Oh My!

I love healthy snacks. I can be so busy that I need to reach for something quick. And it is so easy to buy all prepackaged sometimes but I know that is not the best thing for me in the long run.

So I am always playing around in my kitchen during my free time, trying to create tasty options I can make ahead for later or make quick. And with a bunch of avocados lying around that were super ripe, I had to come up with ideas quick! I hate to waste….

Only a few ingredients each and has loads antioxidants & healthy fats.

First up…

1. Avocado Yogurt

  • 1/2-1 avocado
  • 1 Cup Greek or Coconut yogurt
  • 1/3 Cup local honey

Blend ingredients and enjoy!! Now the size of the avocado can determine how much you use. If smaller use whole and if larger use about half. We share this and love to add fresh berries and granola to it!

2. Chocolate Avocado Pudding

  • 1 avocado
  • 1/4 Cup Cacao or Cocoa powder
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 tbsp honey

This is one of my favorite snacks! And for the kids too. Blend the ingredients till creamy consistency. You can play around and add some vanilla or more honey..top with nuts…Whatever you fancy!

3. Matcha Avocado Milkshake

  • 1 avocado
  • 2 tsp Matcha Powder
  • 1-2 cups Almond Milk
  • 1 tbsp honey

Blend all ingredients till smooth. This cures my sweet cravings in no time. It’s delicious and simple. Plus it’s a way to get in nutrients instead of empty calories. Even add in some banana or coconut and freeze for a little “nice cream” treat.

One of my favorite things I have come to love is avocados. It’s filling and packs a ton of vitamins. It is great for your skin, hair and your overall well being!! So try one of these out if you need a snack pick me up from time to time and play around with what tastes good to you!!
